Disclaimer
Safe Home Advisor publishes general consumer information about medical alert systems, stairlifts, walk-in tubs, mobility aids, and other home safety products: how they work, what they cost, what Medicare and other programs cover, and how products compare.
We are not doctors, nurses, occupational therapists, contractors, or financial advisors, and nothing on this site is medical, legal, financial, or professional advice.
In an emergency, call 911. A medical alert system is not a substitute for emergency services or for care from a medical professional.
- Talk to a professional about your own situation. A doctor or occupational therapist can assess fall risk and recommend equipment that fits a person’s health and abilities, and may be able to provide paperwork that some coverage programs require.
- Use qualified installers. Stairlifts, walk-in tubs, grab bars, and ramps must be installed correctly to be safe. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions and local building codes.
- Check coverage yourself. Medicare, Medicare Advantage, Medicaid, VA, and insurance rules vary by plan and state, and they change. Confirm with your plan before you buy.
Product details, prices, and policies change. We work to keep articles current, but check with the manufacturer or seller before making a decision.
